Day Two Dinard to Sables Dor

. My everyday concern when heading out for the day on a ebike is having enough power to do the ride. Running out is never good. When i got my bike from the guide this morning, it had not been charged up from yesterdays ride. Doing the best I can conserving power, it was only good for half the ride. The guides do the best they can, but in this case, it was not good enough. Shortly before lunch, it gave out. I was able to ride without power, but very slowly. At the lunch stop , we put the bike on the van's trailer and drove to the finish. I got enough riding in, so it was OK. Just a disapointment of not being able to do the whole ride. Oh Well! I still had a great time!

Our first day. St Malo to Concade

It was cool to start. I was wearing a t-shirt and kept thinking i should have brought a jacket. About an hour later it was almost too warm in the sun. Todays ride was to an Oyster farm. We wete offered a tour and a taisting.
The Tour was a little long. there really isnt much after being raised in New England one doesn't already know about Oysters. The washing od them before packaging was interesting. Because they grow in questionable water, they need to rest in filtered seay eater to loose any sand and tale on clean water. I think they said about a day
The taisting of what were told are the best Oysters on the planet, was just OK.
For dinner we went back to the restraunt we ate at our first night. Again, it was amazing!
We had the best service. Such Fun. The wine was perfect! We evan got to hug the Chef! (try doing that in the States!)

A Day of Wander and Wonder!

Sunday. The little village where we are staying is packed with people. Sometimes making it hard to move around. Today is the day to get our bicycles ready for our trip. Fitting the seat height and learning the feel of a big bike. A short ride around town to get familiar with how it works. Again, this year we will be riding Cannondale Ebikes. Good enough for the ride. Tonight we had a chance to meet the members of the group. Some of the people we have ridden with in past trips. In the evening we met to go over safety tips and the rules of the road followed by a short walk to a interesting Wine bar for a glass of something and a toast. Dinner was a short walk away at a spot that could serve all 25 of us including our 3 leaders.
Afterwards I went for a walk around just to see how large the village was. Here are some of the photos.
Tomorrow we start the ride. It sounds amazing. We will be on the bikes by 10am with our first stop at an Oyster farm!

We Have Arrived

Two full days of travel. We are Bushed. we missed the train so instead we rented a car. Much better idea. We landed in Paris at noon and made it to the Hotel by 7pm.
North Western France, . A village called Saint Malo. wandering around, we found an amazing little restraunt that had space for us.
A bottle of Champagne to start as what is only proper. A house bottle that was spectacular!
Lobster and Watermelon. A combination this New Englander would have never thought of. Here is the menu
We finished with a local cheese plate and a glass of Red Wine from Mount Ventoux!

A Day of Waiting

Its not over yet. After waiting for our friend to show at the house for an hour and a half, we finally made it to Logan Express. The traffic was thick with one of Boston's tunnels being closed for the month. we made it to the airport and again waited to go through security. Now a signal tone has told us that we need to wait for instructions reguarding leaving the building. Strobe lights are flashing and a BEEP BEEP BEEP is sounding. The alarm has now stopped but our 6:01. flight has not been called to board and its 6:20. Its OK though because our flight out of Philadelphia has been delayed 4 hours. As it turns out, we will be in Paris late and miss our train. So a second day of waiting. As I'm reminded, " Travelling is an Extreme Sport" Barbaras favorite comment. 9:45, Weare in Philadelphia waiting for our plane. Looks like we will be will definitely be missing our train and will need to purchace nrw tickets. If we can get a train, we eill be lucky.

Here we go again!

Packing is always a challenge. what to take and what to leave. What cameras will I be taking and what will I need for cables and camera support systems. This year , besides my Smart Phone, will be bringing 4 cameras. Two require film and the others, digital. When I first started blogging, i brought a small laptop computer. Now all the work is done on my phone and a small tablet. Photo editing is all done with an app. that works better than anything i had on my computer. Internet access is so much better than it was evan 10 years ago. When I first started, I would have to wait my turn for the hotels guest computer in the lobby. We will be heading out tomorrow. When we arrive at our first Hotel, we will be in Northwest France. We will be going on a Group tour around Normandy and Britney with a group named " Experience Plus" Friends from past tours will be joining us. I hope you will enjoy following our adventures an look forward to seeing and reading your comments!
