Day Seven. A Day Off the Bike
Today we were to get our bags ready and take the bus after breakfast to the front gate of Mont Saint Michael. We were going to have a 2 hour tour guided by a professional tour guide. Usally crouded and hard to hear, I decided to take the mornong off from the group and walk around the island anf work on the photos.

Day Six Ride to Mont Saint Michael
For all my friends and followers eof this blog that wished me "Good Luck" with the high temperatures europe had been reporting, its been cold here. I was underdressed this morning thinking that in my cotton polo shirt I was doomed if it started raining.
Fighting a cold made this all the more fun!
We had a great ride today. Rolling along, for the most part, out front. Beautiful roads with nice villages. Everything made of granet. Not a red btick in sight.
Todays ride was to Mont Saint Michael.
All alone on its own , this little island attracts more tourists per year than any other place in France. No one is sure if its in Normandy or Brittney (evan the people that live there)
It cleared to be a beautiful warm day. the last 10 miles were with a tailwind!

Day Five!
What could make you feel like your from the wrong part of the world more then walking through a full on European Market? We good markets but as far as I have found, not great.
Our day started out after breakfast wandering aroun across the street at good sized market. It was just wonderful. it made us both want to move!Todays ride was optional. You could stay around the hoter an town with more than enough to do.
The day started out with heavy rainfall with thunder and lightning but soon cleared to overcast and wet roads.
Barbara and I have ridden in all kinds of weather, but waited for the rain to stop so we wouldn't have to carry extra clothing.
The ride was an out and back along the shore of the Rance River. Just beautiful with quaint little villages with overlooks of the water.
Beautiful views with good sized hills. We both rode as hard as we could yet staying in lower power levals with the ebikes as to not run out of electricity in the batterys.

Rolling hills, old farms and great views.
Very little traffic. Just perfect.
Uneventful but fun. Alot of the riding was like being at home in New England. Nice roads and Nice people.

Day Two Dinard to Sables Dor
. My everyday concern when heading out for the day on a ebike is having enough
power to do the ride. Running out is never good. When i got my bike from the
guide this morning, it had not been charged up from yesterdays ride. Doing the
best I can conserving power, it was only good for half the ride. The guides do
the best they can, but in this case, it was not good enough. Shortly before
lunch, it gave out. I was able to ride without power, but very slowly. At the
lunch stop , we put the bike on the van's trailer and drove to the finish. I got
enough riding in, so it was OK. Just a disapointment of not being able to do the
whole ride. Oh Well! I still had a great time!

Our first day. St Malo to Concade
It was cool to start. I was wearing a t-shirt and kept thinking i should have
brought a jacket. About an hour later it was almost too warm in the sun. Todays
ride was to an Oyster farm. We wete offered a tour and a taisting.
The Tour was a little long. there really isnt much after being raised in New
England one doesn't already know about Oysters. The washing od them before
packaging was interesting. Because they grow in questionable water, they need to
rest in filtered seay eater to loose any sand and tale on clean water. I think
they said about a day
The taisting of what were told are the best Oysters on the planet, was just OK.
For dinner we went back to the restraunt we ate at our first night. Again, it
was amazing!
We had the best service. Such Fun. The wine was perfect! We evan got to hug the
Chef! (try doing that in the States!)

A Day of Wander and Wonder!
Sunday. The little village where we are staying is packed with people. Sometimes making it hard
to move around.
Today is the day to get our bicycles ready for our trip. Fitting the seat height and learning the feel of a big bike. A short ride around town to get familiar with how it works. Again, this year we will be riding Cannondale Ebikes. Good enough for the ride.
Tonight we had a chance to meet the members of the group. Some of the people we have ridden with in past trips.
In the evening we met to go over safety tips and the rules of the road followed by a short walk to a interesting Wine bar for a glass of something and a toast.
Dinner was a short walk away at a spot that could serve all 25 of us including our 3 leaders.
Afterwards I went for a walk around just to see how large the village was. Here are some of the photos.
Tomorrow we start the ride. It sounds amazing. We will be on the bikes by 10am with our first stop at an Oyster farm!
