Strasbourg Finally

After twenty hours of traveling, we are here. Beautiful Strasbourg, France. Fine Food and fine living.

Our beautiful little Hotel just across the river Ill from our dinner spot tonight. Diner is at 7:30.

Our choice for lunch:."Mama Bubbele' Only the best Tarte Flambee. Super thin crust with sour cream, onion and bacon. Cold beer. Its all we want

You have a choice of cheese and toppings, but we chose the classic. Perfect.

For desert we chose another with sliced apples and cream flambe.

Lights out, light it up.

Its raining here. Old cities photograph beautifully when stone is wet and no glare from a bright sun. A short walk around town and then back to the hotel for a nap

. We went back to the room and took a nap in bed and not in a chair as we had done on the plane and train. So nice.

Dinner is a very short walk from our hotel.

1741 is a upscale Michelin Star Restaurant with everything you would expect. The wait staff are in suits and ties. Everything is perfect. The dishes are small and artfully prepared . Each a work of art! Amazing flavors paired with wines from the reigon.

. It was a truly spectacular evening with a wonderful chat with the chef Jérémy Page. We will be going back tomorrow night for more of the same great service!

A wise person once said,

,,,,,All successful trips start with a Bloody Mary. Preferably with a huge Shrimp! Here we go! Logan airport to Kennedy and then onto Charles de Gaulle. When we land tomorrow we will head to the train to Strausburg. Our plane has arrived and its time to board. Wish us luck!

Another Whirlwind Tour Coming.

Day 25. Coming Home

Another day of travel. Taxi to the Train and now, the Plane. We have been at the airport now for six hours. The old hurry up and wait. Our original filght was canceled, but with the mastery of Barbara's traveling skills, we now have a plane and will be avoiding Philadelphia and end our flights in Boston. Its been a great trip. Very long but fun! Meeting up with old friends and meeting new.

Day 24 Our last full day in Europe

Day 23 Our Record Breaking Achievement

OK, OK. I think we broke a record! Ours anyway. Let me ask you something. What's the longest distance you would go to go to a restaurant? Or how far have you gone? Yesterday's record for us anyways was 1500 miles! Shuttle Van, Plane, Train. We left our Hotel at 7:20am and arived at 7:00pm for dinner! Why? You might ask.Because of one of our all time favorite restaurants! 1741.

We traditionally start with a glass of Champagne.Getting settled, out comes the amuse-bouche.

Beautifuly presented, each with a "POP" of flavor, as it says, "amuse-bouche", To Amuse the Mouth, they all really did their job very well! Perfect!

We were asked to eat them in the order they came on the plate.

The Bread and butter are amazing! We are asked how many courses we will be having There are 9 items on the menu of which we have a choice of 3,5 or 7. Each paired with the perfect wine.

Each course and wine is explained in full including showing us on a map what part of Alsace it's from.
