Day Seven, Crossing into Spain

A different country with a different time zone. Hot and hilly at first, Hot the rest of the day.
after the first mile, we broke the chain. Being dropped by the group is what we do. No matter how hard we try to stay ahead, something always happens. Oh well! Not going to fight ot. Food for the gods as Barbara likes to say.
We managed to get the chain back together and headed on our way into what we were told to be a very large climb. With the chain too short, shifting into low gear, not knowing that I was in the large chainring, the drivetrain locked up. No matter what, it just would not shift.
Roberto riding as sweep came up and said, "WE have a new chain on the van!" Lets swap it!
So we did. Off we went to Finnish the climb.
The plan for today was to go over the top of the hill and ride along the beach to where we would come to a town, on a river and cross into Spain in a small motor boat. The word "Smuggling" was used as to how we would arrive into the country. Not true, but fun and funny.
We crossed and needed to push the tandem up the beach in deep sand to a board walk.
The board walk was longer then anything we have ridden on with a good chance of falling off if not paying attention all the time.
The lunch stop was on the end and down the road a bit.
A lunch of cold beer, salad and croquettes. We decided that rather ride in the hottest part of the day, we would meet up with the van and take a rise to the end.
This turned out to be a very good idea!

Goats on the path!
